"I have long believed, as have many before me, that peaceful relations between nations require understanding and mutual respect between individuals."

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Founder

In June of 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower founded an organization in order to promote understanding between the people of different cultures.  This website explains one delegation's exploration into another culture as we ventured down under to Australia and New Zealand.

A three week trip to Australia and New Zealand is truly the experience of a lifetime. With so many sights and activities packed into three weeks, it's hard to pinpoint what the highlights were.  Still some activities we took part in and places we visited stand out in my mind.  In Sydney, we visited the Opera House followed by a late night cruise.  The beaches in Australia are truly amazing.  One of these beaches was Lady Musgrave Island and, while we never set foot on the beach, we did get to scuba dive off the coast at the Great Barrier Reef.  Many memorable experiences came toward the end of our stay in Australia at the Adora Farms farmstay.  In New Zealand, we continued to have amazing experiences.   I will always remember luging down a mountain at 45 kilometers per hour and doing 360's in a jet boat at Huka Falls with water splashing in our faces.  These highlights made a great trip an unforgettable one.
